VINTAGE BEN SCHMIDT BLACK DUCK DECOY EXCELLENT ALL ORIGINAL
Being offered is an early, very good Blackduck decoy made by the dean of Michigan makers, Ben Schmidt of Detroit, ca. 1935.  It is in good original paint and condition showing some wear from use, including rubs to the bill, head and tail.  There are also rubs to the sides as well as age checks on the right side, tail, and breast.  Typical of Schmidt's best work this decoy shows plenty of feather stamping on the entire body as well as nicely raised wings with primary feather carving.  The head is turned to the right.  It retains its original glass eyes and weighted keel.  It is stamped on the bottom with Bernie Galipeau's collector stamp.  It measures about 17-
