Description

US Civil War Model 1840 Emerson & Silver Musician Sword with Metal Scabbard.
The ricasso is marked "Emerson & Silver" over "Trenton" over "N.J." and on the reverse "US", over "DFM" over "1863". The side of the knuckle guard is marked "DFM" and the underside of the crossguard has an "M". The brass grip and guard are tight.
The blade
is straight, unsharpened, a few minor nicks, and there are age spots scattered throughout. The metal scabbard is solid with a few minor dings, the drag is marked "DFM", the drag is dented, and the frog stud has been reattached at some point.
W
asher is missing. Length of the blade is 28 1/16" (7/8" wide and 1/4" thick), the sword is 34 1/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 35 1/16".
