Matched 1960s Pair of Working Canvasback Decoys in Style of 1936 Ward Brothers

Description

A matched pair of 1960s working Canvasback decoys from the Eastern Shore of Maryland are offered.  These oversized Canvasbacks are carved from cedar in the 1936 Ward Brothers' Canvasbacks style.  17" long and 8" wide.  They have strong original paint and are painted in unique detail, not trying to copy the Ward style of painting.  Their basic feathered paint patterns have mellowed with age and show incredible shelf life. This pair has slight neck seats, beautifully carved and elongated heads, glass eyes, carved nostrils, and bill delineations.  Their bodies are very plump with gentle cambered back to rounded chime and overhanging tails.  They exhibit inward-sloping breasts and flat bottoms.  No neck cracks.  Unknown carver.  Packing/shipping USPS insured is .
