Description

Fine Model 1861 U.S. Navy Bayonet measuring 27.5" long overall with a blade length of 22.5", with a inside socket diameter of .915". Fine blade condition, ricassso area of blade marked, "COLLINS & CO. HARTFORD CONN." Top spine of handle marked with serial number of "8686". Pommel end marked with inspector marks, "F.C.W." The scabbard shows surface cracks on leather with some small spots of loss on the top front and back center. A beautiful original Civil War piece.
