    Description

    Core Sound Carved Decoy by Gerald Davis, Beaufort, NC 1987 Long Tail Duck
    Excellent condition.  15 ¾" long, 5 ½" high, 4 ¾" wide.  See photos, note the details in the carving.  Glass eyes.
    Gerald S. Davis was important in the revival of decoy carving that took place in Carteret County North Carolina during the 1980's.  He had his own shop "Fishtown Decoys" and worked many arts and crafts shows promoting decoy carvings.  He was featured in North Carolina Travel and Tourism publications and was an icon of coastal maritime culture.  On August 11, 1987 the "Core Sound Decoy Carver's Guild" was started with Gerald Davis as one of the 9 first board members.  Gerald S. Davis passed away in 2010 at the age of 65.
