Civil War Sword 1862 Ames Chicopee,Ma.

Description

Great estate sale find.
1862 Ames Sword Marked U.S. for the Union.
A.D.K was the inspector at the time.
The Chicopee, Ma. markings are wore, but clearly there.
Parts of the scroll are still visible.
Handle retains most of the leather and the windings are great.
Handle guard looks to have fought off a strike or two.
Blade looks to be in great shape in unsharpened state.
This was preserved under glass for at least 60 years,
and it shows.
I'm sure there are better ones, but I don't know where.
Lock eyeballs on the photo's, as it has age appropriate wear.
I will try and answer any questions, but not an expert.
Well balanced, Well built sword.
