EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CONDITION
This auction is for an
ANTIQUE Hand-Painted CANADIAN Goose Decoy Canvas/PAPER MACHE/WOOD HEADS/GLASS EYES. WOOD HEADS ARE HAND CARFTED AND DETACH FROM THE BODY. THEY WERE MADE LATE 1950'S THRU EARLY 1960'S (ABOUT 65 YEARS OLD). IT APPEARS THE CRAFTSMAN IS ED BIENNOFF. IT LOOKS LIKE HE MOLDED THE GOOSE WITH CHICKEN WIRE, THEN APPLIED PAPER MACHE, THEN HE WRAPPED IT IN CANVAS AND FINALLY HAND PAINTED IT. ORIGINAL PAINT. THIS IS HOLLOW WITH A BLOCK OF WOOD MOUNTED INSIDE WITH A HOLE DRILLED IN IT, IF MOUNTING OUTSIDE YOU COULD USE REBAR OR A DOWEL ROD TO SECURE IT OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISPLAY IT INSIDE YOU COULD PUT A BLOCK OF WOOD WITH A WOODEN DOWELL TO SET IT ON.
THIS DECOY IS 24" LONG AND 11 1/2" TALL.
EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AMERICAN LORE CRAFTSMANSHIP. A REAL COLLECTOR PIECE FOR ANY DECOY COLLECTOR.
