ANTIQUE SHOREBIRD DECOY VIRGINIA EASTERN SHORE NR

Description

Circa late 1800's Dowitcher shorebird decoy attributed to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, maker unknown to me. Traces of worn original paint though well worn with heavy gunning use.  The bill has been replaced which is typical as many were broke or shot off from gunning.  The original old stake used to plant the lure in place along the shore is included.
A neat piece of gunning history from the glory days of shorebird hunting.
